Day 2

Salisbury Plain >
Goring on Thames

< Day 1 // Day 3 >

Packing away out bikepacking gear, and leaving Tilshead in the mist we rolled over the last few grassy fields on Salisbury plain, and onto some nice gravel and then small tarmaced A roads.

There was a distinct change in the ride as we rolled over a bridge at the Kennet and Avon canal, and then to Avebury and it’s sacred stone circles. The start of the ridgeway begins.

It was a lovely climb up onto the ridge where we passed copses of woodland and ancient burials mounds.

The conditions up here would always be quite changeable so be prepared. Either very windy, wet or hot. Make sure you have enough water and food for this long section, as once you are up here, there is nothing but track.

We had a really nice dry descent into the Thames valley where we stopped for the evening. Pub, river, and fresh air. Perfect end to day 2.
